If you've said "yes" to all of the above questions, then "Welcome
to California Shakes", aka Land of Fruits and Nuts.
There are approximately 70 different kinds of shakes to choose from 4 different
categories: a) chewy fruit shakes, b) fancy nut shakes , c) chocolate
shakes and d) famous coffee shakes.
No matter what shake you select, expect to have your straw clog up with either
bits of dried fruit, nuts or candy. Yes Virginia, you will need that spoon after
all.
I ordered "the Snicker" which came with Ghirradelli chocolate chips,
Hershey's syrup and chopped Snicker pieces. It was delicious and worth the brain
freeze headache I received after the first 3 slurps.
Next time, I think I will try something a little more fruity like "chewy
pineapple" made with dried pineapple bits and blackberry syrup or "yo
mama mango" made with sun dried mango and mango nectar.
This is a great product in a bad location. The store is located in the
boonies of the Queen Mary.
From what I understand, Russ (the owner) is looking for someone to buy this
store and brainchild and franchise the concept.
Something like what Pinkberry has done. However, Russ sees Pinkberry as a "flash in the pan" and his product will stand the test of time.
